Salvation

God has a plan for you to live eternally with Him.  John 3:16 has been called the gospel (good news) in a nutshell.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

You will have to come to the place where you realize that you are no better than anyone else — anyone!  As a member of the human race, you, along with all of us, have failed to measure up to God’s standard for living.  This is because we have inherited the same sinful nature that began in the human race from the time Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden.

Many of us may be tempted to think that we are better than others.  Perhaps we have not stolen, committed adultery, murdered, gossiped, or done many of the things we see others do, but the fact remains that there is not one of us that is perfect.  The Bible says:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

“For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in ONE point, he is guilty of all”  (James 2:10).

Jesus elevated the Ten Commandments to a higher level.  For example, He said:

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder,’ and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.  But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment”  (Matthew 6:21,22).

“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’  But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart”  (Matthew 6;27,28).

Jesus came to die for your sins on the cross, and the only way you can receive the benefit of God’s plan of salvation is by being born again.  Jesus said:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”   (John 3:3).

To be born again and be a member of God’s saved company or true Church, you must become a believer and be willing to be a follower of Jesus Christ.  The invitation is clear and simple.  The Apostle Paul told a man in Philippi, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved”  (Acts 16:31).

If you are willing to tell God the following, sincerely from your heart, you will be saved and receive the wonderful gift of eternal life.

Dear God.  I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to this earth and became human flesh.  He lived a sinless life, and then died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for my sins.  On the third day He rose from the dead, and after appearing to many for a period of  40 days, He ascended to heaven in full view of His disciples.

I confess I am a sinner as part of Adam’s race.   Please forgive me and save me.  Please come into my heart by Your Spirit so that I will be born again.  Thank You for hearing my prayer.  Amen.

I would be delighted to hear from anyone who has sincerely come to this place of believing on Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  If you have done this there are two important things that you need to do every day of your life.

1.  Talk to God about every detail of your life.  Ask for His help, and ask Him what He would like you to do for Him.  This is what prayer is.

2.  Get a good reliable translation of the Bible if you don’t already have one, and read it every day.  I suggest reading something from both the       Old Testament and the New Testament each day.

Here’s a few more encouraging quotations:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”   (Romans 6:23).

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”                 (2 Corinthians 5:17).
